The Wagner Middle School library is an educational hub that supports all learners by providing equal access to information, literacy instruction, and opportunities for students to problem-solve and think creatively about the world around them. The library strives to be a place that supports classroom curriculum, encourages inquiry and helps students develop a love and appreciation for literature.
Hi Wolves!
My name is Mr. Marcos O. Vargas Jr., but you can call me Mr. V! I am excited to continue serving as the librarian at Wagner Middle School. Previously at Wagner, I taught reading intervention for a year and then spent the last two years in the library.
I have been in education for 6 years. I was an 8th grade Honors writing teacher, a middle school reading intervention teacher, an English 2 teacher, Color Guard Director, Student Council sponsor, UIL Prose and Poetry Coach, and a 2016 Teach for America corps member.
I hold a bachelor's of science in Kinesiology specializing in Exercise Science from The University of Texas at San Antonio and a master's in Information Science specializing in School Libraries from the University of North Texas.
What most excites me about working at Wagner Middle School is the AMAZING environment the staff and students create collectively. I am eager to continue growing in and helping push the boundaries of learning, fostering individualistic success, and promoting self-growth.
Outside of the library, I enjoy working out at the gym, playing tennis or volleyball, eating lots of delicious food, hanging out with friends, and, of course, reading! I especially love to read books that are being turned/have been turned into shows or movies. I have a handsome chihuahua mixed dog named Hershey that is my absolute heart and has made me a proud foster dad for the last 5 years.
