Michael McCombs
Michael McCombs serves as a PLP (Personalized Learning Path) teacher on our Wagner team. He has previously held positions as ELAR, social studies, primary and secondary interdisciplinary project-based learning teacher, district gifted and talented coordinator, curriculum writer, reading interventionist, librarian, museum educator, and university-level technical writing instructor.
Mr. McCombs has received his Bachelor's of Art in American Studies from Stetson University in Florida, a Master's of Art in American Studies from Penn State University, and a Master's of Science in Information Science from the University of Texas. He is most excited about contributing to a student-centered campus-wide culture and climate reflecting student voice, creativity, and choice. Mr. McCombs is also excited about collaborating with colleagues and students to develop meaningful, authentic learning opportunities that inspire impassioned lifelong learning, and building an inquiry-driven course that spans the disciplinary round of Wagner and student imagination!
He is a fifth generation Floridian who grew up on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean in a cattle-ranching family and has counted central Texas home for sixteen years. He has four grown children and two grand-daughters! Outside of teaching, Mr. McCombs has hobbies that include playing with dogs, reading, drinking coffee, puppeteering, and crafting jokes and puns. He views humor as critical for human connection and strives to laugh and make others laugh every day.
